1 – Oman. C’est parti pour la deuxième épreuve du début de saison dans la péninsule arabique, après le Tour de Dubai.
La course sera surtout intéressante vendredi avec l’arrivée au sommet de « Green Mountain », ce qui permettra de faire le point sur la condition des grands leaders du peloton que sont les Valverde (déjà vainqueur cette année du côté de Majorque, j’en fais mon favori vendredi), Nibali, Rodriguez, Van Garderen, Pinot, Barguil et Costa.
Et côté baroudeurs/sprinters, il sera intéressant de suivre les Cancellara, Boonen, Boasson Hagen, Pozzato, Bouhanni, Terpstra, Démare, Kristoff, Sagan, Kreuziger et Van Avermaet dans leur préparation pour les prochaines Classiques.
2 – Ruta Del Sol. Ca s’élance aussi dans les prochains jours avec, au départ, Froome et Contador pour leur premier clash de l’année. Ca sera intéressant de voir où ils en sont. Rappelons que Contador a mis la barre très haut cette année: le doublé Giro-Tour, rien de moins.
3 – Bouhanni. Le train Cofidis pour amener les sprints de Bouhanni est, selon le principal intéressé, encore en rodage. Normal en ce début de saison, le premier grand objectif étant Paris-Nice en mars.
4 – Armstrong. Le champion déchu devra rembourser 10 millions de dollars, une jolie somme tout de même, à SCA Promotions, la firme lui ayant octroyé des primes pour ses victoires – acquises par la triche – sur le Tour de France. Sur ce coup-là, aucun regret, c’est normal qu’il rembourse l’argent illégalement perçu.
Si seulement cet argent pouvait aller à la lutte contre le dopage dans le cyclisme, afin que les coureurs sains n’aient plus à être volés par ceux qui trichent…
5 – Le Crique. Triste nouvelle que cet AVC souffert par l’ex-champion Claude Criquielion, un coureur que j’ai beaucoup admiré dans les années 1980. Ce type était un gros moteur, dur au mal, dans la plus pure tradition des Flahutes. Il s’est illustré autant sur la scène des Classiques d’un jour, remportant un Tour des Flandres (1987) et un Championnat du monde (1984), que sur la scène des grandes courses par étape, terminant notamment 5e du Tour de France 1986. Il avait la classe!
6 – Néo-pros. Quelques jeunes coureurs à garder à l’oeil cette saison chez les pros.
7 – Merckx. Si vous trainez du côté de Bruxelles ces jours-ci, ne manquez surtout pas l’exposition sur Eddy Merckx en l’honneur de son 70e anniversaire. Merckx, c’est quand même le plus grand, le meilleur, et de très loin. Rappelons nous la citation d’un Luis Ocana dans les années 1980, alors qu’il était directeur sportif:
“Bon sang, je donnerai plusieurs hectares de mes terres pour le voir revenir 15 jours dans le peloton. Rien que deux semaines. Pour leur montrer à tous ces mignons ce qu‘était courir avec Merckx. Ce type était incroyable, nom de Dieu! Ils n’auraient pas le temps d’aller se faire friser les cheveux ou de se mettre des boucles d’oreille. Ils n’auraient plus qu’une envie : aller vite au lit pour récupérer, je vous le dis…“
8 – Respect. À mon ami Éric Rouleau qui a fait une très belle performance ce week-end à la Gatineau Loppet, terminant 20e du 51 km classique samedi, excusez-un-peu, avant de bien finir le 42 km patin dimanche, le tout par des conditions climatiques extrêmes, neige samedi et froid extrême dimanche. Il avait complété le Marathon canadien de ski (160 bornes) le week-end d’avant. Chapeau le gros!

Plusieurs coureurs canadiens débutent le Tour d’Algarve, au Portugal, avec le Team Kelly Benefit. Une course par étapes très relevée et donc intéressante à suivre au niveau de leurs résultats : Woods, Boivin, Anderson, Routley y seront, peut-être pas grand chose à attendre d’eux mais comme LFR est le seul site francophone où on peut le mentionner c’est toujours intéressant à suivre pour les amateurs du cyclisme canadien.
D’ailleurs, dans les tours d’actualité, ça serait intéressant de contribuer régulièrement à suivre nos coureurs en Amérique du Nord et en Europe. Peut-être certains seront intéressés. Mais je comprends que c’est difficile de les tracer tous à la roue, c’est pour ça que même de manière irrégulière ça enrichirait encore le site, déjà très riche au départ.

Sur ce début de saison 4 équipes occupent le devant de la scène. Quick step, Astana, Movistar et sky. Ils trustent les victoires.
Ensuite on a Contador qui tourne bien mais son équipe semble moins souveraine.
c’est très intéressant de voir que dès les premières courses ces équipes sont devant.Leurs leaders sont d’emblée en forme alors que nous sommes pourtant loin des grands objectifs. des coureurs qui visent le tdf et qui sont en forme à la mi février est assez étonnant. ce qui est plus étonnant et de voir que cet état de fait semble se généraliser.
On voit que Taaramae est en super forme puisqu’il vient de faire 2 aujourd’hui. L’effet top team.
Nos français commencent plus lentement et c’est quelque part assez conforme à leurs objectifs.
On va voir dans les prochains jours si ils montent en puissance. reste le cas Nibali et demain nous verrons ce qu’il va faire sur la montée de Green mountain. Pas sûr qu’il va être devant si on se réfère à son année 2014.
Il devient très dur de trouver sa place dans ce peloton où les cadors semblent être toujours en forme et ce dès leur première course.
Il n’y a plus de mise en jambes comme par le passé et d’ailleurs tous revendiquent un hiver studieux et sans ennuis.
Ca confirme que les préparations sont devenues la partie la plus importante. Or quand on lit le livre de Hamilton ça fait peur car il explique clairement que c’est durant cette période que les protocoles de dopage tournent à plein régime.
Pas rassurant tout ça et pour les jeunes et équipes de second plan ça complique la tâche car ils ont du mal à faire des résultats.
